Here is a new commercial for the Audi A4 2.0 TDI. The spot uses an interesting approach to car advertising. Highlighting all of the different components of the car being put together in some sort of gigantic Rubik’s Cube. We’ve come a long way from the Model T Ford production line, haven’t we?
Anyways, the spot is nice. And it’s always refreshing to see a car commercial that tries to be creative. We’ve seen enough commercials of cars simply driving down a long highway with a forgettable voiceover explaining how much better this vehicle is than any other.
Agency: Kempertrautmann, Germany
Somehow though, the spot reminds me of Honda.
Almost like they took a page right out of the Honda advertising book. It’s not exactly the same as the famous Honda Cog ad, yet for some reason, I think of it every time I watch this Audi commercial.
Maybe it’s just me, and I don’t want to compare the Audi to a Honda Accord. That’s just not fair. But I’ve posted the Honda ad below so you can judge for yourself.
Agency: Wieden + Kennedy
Client: Honda Accord
For those of you who don’t know, the Honda ad took 606 takes and doesn’t use any computer graphic imaging.
