Audi vs. BMW – Advertising battle

Nothing like a good old fashioned advertising battle between two heated competitors. This time, we see two luxury car companies, Audi and BMW slugging it out on the streets of California.

Now these two have been at it before. Round one would have taken place in 2006, in a four-way battle with a series of print ads from BMW, Audi, Subaru and Bentley. See round one here.

But now we’re on to round two. It started out with Audi advertising their new Audi A4 with a billboard at the corner of Santa Monica Blvd. The headline reads “your move BMW”, challenging their competitor to top their latest luxury car.

Torontonians too cold for Molson?

Recently, Molson-Coors Canada put up billboards in British Columbia as part of their “Colder than…” campaign. The billboards aimed to poke fun at Torontonians by containing the headline “Colder than most people from Toronto”. Apparently this caused a lot of people in Toronto to complain about the billboards, and forced Molson to take them down.

A message from their spokes-person Ferg Devins via Twitter:

” Coors Light sincerely apologies to ANYONE who was offended by our Colder Than billboards in BC. We are removing ASAP.”

Please don’t get distracted by the bloody billboard

The ad below was developed to encourage drivers in New Zealand to drive safe in the rain. The billboard shows a child’s face with the headline: “Rain changes everything. Drive to the conditions.” However, there is more to this billboard than what meets the eye.

When it starts to rain, the ad changes. Take a look below and see for yourself, however I must warn you, the image is rather gruesome.
